Bob & Kathy Burnyeat's 1974 TR6

My love affair with my TR6 began in the early ‘70s. I was browsing an issue of Road and Track and came across an ad for Triumphs. I began my search in the mid to late 70s, but there weren’t that many for sale it seemed.  Then in the late summer of 1979, an ad came up in the paper (remember when there were lots of car ads in the paper?).

I ended up buying that car with roughly 25,000 miles on it and now is just over 100,000 miles.  Over the years, there has been plenty of small work done, with a major restoration in the late 80's. The rust had started to appear and what started as a bit of rust repair, quickly turned into a body-off restoration.  During the restoration, I added the much sought after Overdrive to the transmission. I learned a lot about car restoration, made a few mistakes, but in the end, had a rust-free beautiful car. Total bill (early 90s) was around $10,000!

A more recent engine rebuild, electronic ignition upgrades and an upgrade to CV joints have given the car new life and I’ve come to appreciate driving it all over again.  My TR6 has given me some trials and tribulations, but overall much joy.
